City Hall Square
Pitesti is a locality from Romania, located 118 km northwest of Bucharest and has over 160,000 inhabitants. This settlement is mentioned in documents in 1386 but its age is more, since the Stone Age. On July 4, 1944, the city Pitesti it was bombed by the Allies but in the 1960s a strong industrialization of this area began. Currently this area is heavily industrialized, Dacia plants (car factory) and Arpechim refinery being two of the most important industrial centers from Romania. One of the most famous personalities who was born in Pitesti is Ion Antonescu, a murderer who by his decisions prolonged a war in which died, disappeared or were taken prisoner over 800,000 Romanians.
